The Taliban’s reign in Afghanistan has raised many questions regarding the safety of women, children and religious minorities. A Catholic priest who is still living in the region has reported the situation on the ground to be chaotic and changing. There are also reports that known Christians have received threatening phone calls. Head of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, Archbishop Timothy Broglio, joins to share what his understanding is of the situation for Catholics and other Christians still in Afghanistan. Archbishop Broglio tells us how he thinks religious freedoms will change under the Taliban. He discusses the impact the Taliban takeover will have on women and girls. The archbishop of the Military Archdiocese talks about the sacrifices our armed forces made in Afghanistan and whether he thinks those sacrifices were made in vein now that the country has fallen to the Taliban.
