Judicial Watch has obtained documents through a Freedom of Information Act request that reveal the FDA has been involved in research that utilizes “humanized mice.” The FDA purchased aborted babies’ heads, organs and other tissues, which scientists then implanted in mice to create humanized mice. These humanized mice were then used to test biologic drug products. Senior Attorney at Judicial Watch, Meredith DiLiberto, reacts to the findings that the FDA spent nearly $60,000 on fetal body parts in 2012. The legal documents Judicial Watch received were nearly 200 pages. DiLiberto tells us more about what was in those documents. She shares whether it is legal for the FDA to be purchasing aborted fetal tissue and organs. During the Trump administration, the FDA terminated its contract with the supplier of the aborted baby parts. The senior attorney discusses why the contract was terminated and whether the FDA continues to get fetal parts elsewhere. DiLiberto explains what the implications are of taxpayer money going towards this type of research.
