With the fate of death row inmate Julius Jones in the hands of Gov. Kevin Stitt, legislators are making their voices heard in the remaining hours.
Several Republican and Democrat lawmakers stated that they do not want to see Jones put to death. Over the days leading up to the scheduled execution day, several lawmakers have spoken about their support of granting Jones clemency.
“We should be out here. We should be moving mountains to make sure that Julius Jones is not put to death,” Rep. Mauree Turner said.
Turner camped outside the governor’s mansion overnight with other Jones supporters.
