For the second time this year, the Senate failed to pass a bill that would codify Roe v Wade. Democrats, however, are promising more votes in the future. Meanwhile, Republicans are angry over the Biden Administration’s plan to drop conscience protections for health care workers. The Senate Democrats did not come close to the 60 votes they needed to start the debate on the Women’s Health Protection Act. Catholic Republican Senator Susan Collins supports the right to an abortion but voted against the bill because it does not include conscience protections. Senator Roger Marshall is a doctor and says he would have dropped out of medical school if he had to participate in abortions. Senator James Lankford has introduced a bill shielding healthcare providers and insurance plans from participating in abortions. Capitol Hill Correspondent, Erik Rosales reports.
